Bath Scrubbers

Oct 14, 2026

So I’ve been looking to get a replacement for my bath gloves for ages, and I thought ‘why not just make them?’. I was out on errands one day and I found not only the perfect yarn, but also a pattern (2 actually) that I thought would work really well for what I wanted.

The first style is made with simple repeats of the single and double crochets. This one is meant to be a bit more luxurious so I’ll use these for my face primarily. I got 2 colours of yarn so this works out for me!

The second one is made using the slightly more complex spider stitch, so it’s a little rougher and can be used as a dishcloth as well.

I got myself some cheap 100% cotton yarn from Walmart in the right size (like ages ago mind) and I was ready to start! Or so I thought. I put everything in a box together so I could have everything I needed in one space and then immediately forgot about it for like 2 years. Eventually I did find the box again and on a quiet day I figured it’s now or never to get working on it.

1st pattern:

You know what this came out actually really cute! It took me about an hour to make one so I thought why not make another? Obviously, I messed up the second one and had to unravel it and start over. Obviously I also forgot to take photos of the start but I did manage to finish the 2 off really nicely. The pattern says to make them 6×6 but I stopped short and mine came out to be 5×3.75, which is fine with me as that’s just big enough for me to comfortably hold in my hand; and since I intend for these to be my face scrubs it works out!

I got lazy at this point and left the second style for the next day and luckily for me I actually did come back to it right away and not get distracted by other things!

2nd pattern:

Upon starting this one I messed up immediately. I misunderstood what the pattern said for the second row and ended up making way too many stitches making the whole thing curve, so I thought why not and just made it a circle instead. I liked the look so for the second one I did the same but I started with half the number of chain stitches so there wouldn’t be a big gap in the middle. I made the stitches in the centre too little so it ended up popping up a bit, but it kinda looks like a mini hat so I like it!

I really liked working on these! Now that I’m done with these first 4 pieces, And I’ve had them for a while now I can definitely say that they work really well. I’ll come back one day and make more but for now these 4 are more than enough with all the other ones I’ve already got.
